For parents saving milk

Freezer Stash Goal Calculator

How much extra milk would you need to save each day to reach your goal? A little at a time can add up.

Enter the amount you’d like stored, what you already have, and the date you’d like it ready. We’ll work out the amount left and a daily average. There’s no single stash size to aim for.

This is an average toward a goal you choose, not a pumping target. Adjust the goal or timeline to fit what works for you. Milk you use before your goal date is not included in this simple estimate.

The bars show time available, not the amount of milk. Examples only. This assumes 60 oz remains after counting milk already stored, and that none of the saved milk is used during the period. Daily amounts are averages, not pumping targets. There’s no single stash size every family needs.

FROM PLANNING TO EVERYDAY TRACKING

Watch your stash grow, one bag at a time

A parent adding a Cubtale QR-labeled milk bag to a freezer drawer.

Building a stash happens a little at a time. Pair Cubtale’s QR-labeled milk bags with the Cubtale app to log each bag’s amount, pumping date, and storage location. Your milk inventory updates as bags are added and used, so you can compare what you have with the goal you planned here.

Log pumping sessions to spot patterns and compare amounts over time. When it’s time for a feed, the app suggests a bag based on amount and expiry, with alerts for bags nearing their expiry. You and your caregivers can see what’s available without recounting the freezer.

Your freezer goal questions, answered

How does the freezer goal calculator work?

The calculator opens with an editable date 30 days from today so you can see an example result straight away. Change the date and milk amounts to fit your own goal. We count calendar days from today through the day before that date, including weekends. We subtract milk already stored from your chosen goal, then divide the remaining amount by those days. For example, 60 oz left to save with 30 calendar days available averages 2 oz per day.

If you arrive from the Return-to-Work planner, your first-day-back date and milk amounts carry over. If your ready date is today, we show the amount still needed. Choose a future date to see a daily average.

Does the daily average tell me how much I should pump?

No. It is arithmetic toward a goal you choose, not a pumping recommendation. It does not assess milk supply or your baby’s feeding needs. Adjust your goal or timeline to fit your circumstances. Ask your lactation professional or care team if you need help with feeding or pumping.

What if I already have enough saved?

If your stored amount meets or exceeds your goal, the tool shows “Goal reached” and zero left to save. It does not suggest saving more.

What if I use some milk before my goal date?

This simple plan does not forecast milk you will use before your goal date. Update your current stash and ready date as things change. For an ongoing inventory, pair Cubtale’s QR-labeled milk bags with the Cubtale app.

Do I have to freeze the same amount every day?

No. The result is an average across the calendar days before your ready date. Some days may look different. Revisit the estimate when your stash, plans, or available time changes.

How do I choose a freezer goal?

Start with the situations you want covered and your baby’s usual feeding routine. If you’re preparing for daycare or returning to work, the Return-to-Work Milk Planner can help account for saved milk and your planned pumping routine. The Small reserve, Evening out, and Weekend away examples are editable starting points, not recommended stash sizes or pumping targets.

How many bags will I need?

Use the Milk Storage Bag Calculator to count one bag per session you plan to freeze, splitting only when a session exceeds 6 oz. Enter your amount per session and sessions per day, then account for extra bags and unused bags at home. We’ll estimate Cubtale packs of 100.

A daily milk goal alone doesn’t tell us how many separate sessions you’ll freeze. Cubtale’s QR-labeled milk bags connect each bag to your milk inventory in the app.

Where can I find storage guidance?

For storage times, thawing, and handling, visit our breast milk storage guide. Follow your bag’s instructions and any guidance from your baby’s care team.

Where can I explore pumping routines?

Explore our pumping schedule guide for ideas to discuss as you build a routine around your day. If you are considering power pumping, our power pumping guide explains the approach. These tools calculate the plan you enter; they do not choose a pumping routine or predict milk supply.

Where can I find the other milk stash tools?

Visit our Milk Stash Planner to choose between planning milk for your return to work, building toward a freezer goal, and calculating storage bags.

How can I make handover easier?

Share the Cubtale app with your partner or caregiver so everyone can follow feeding patterns and see the daily snapshot. Use the average comparison chart to compare logged amounts over time, then update your plan as your routine changes.

Pair it with Cubtale’s QR-labeled milk bags to log milk as it is stored and used, see what is available, and know which bag to reach for next.

Can I share or print my plan?

Choose “Share” to open your phone’s sharing options where supported. On desktop, a popup offers WhatsApp, email, or a link you can copy. The link carries your entered amounts and choices so your partner or caregiver can open the same plan.

Choose “Print” to open your browser’s print dialog directly. Entries are not saved automatically. Keep the plan link or a printed copy, and update it as your routine changes.
