Your baby is officially 3 months old and heading into an exciting phase—they’re more curious, more social, and more playful than ever before.
This week feels different because your little one is starting to move beyond the tiny newborn stage into a true baby, full of personality.
What’s New This Week?
Giggles are coming. You might hear your first little laugh—those sweet breathy chuckles that make your heart explode.
More deliberate movements. They may reach for toys, your face, or even their own feet.
Turning toward sounds. Your baby might turn their head when they hear your voice.
Hands + mouth = new obsession. They’re starting to explore by chewing on their fists or fingers.
Tracking everything. They’ll follow you with their eyes as you move around the room.
Your baby is now noticing so much more—and you’ll notice their little expressions change as they take it all in.
Feeding: Settling into a Flow
By 13 weeks, feeding has likely found a bit of a groove.
Breastfed babies might nurse every 3–4 hours.
Bottle-fed babies may drink 4–6 ounces per feed.
Babies this age are more efficient eaters, finishing faster than those long newborn sessions.
They might still cluster feed in the evenings, but overall it feels easier than those chaotic first weeks.
Sleep: Longer Nights for Some
Sleep is still not perfect, but you might be getting some relief.
Many babies give one longer stretch at night—6–8 hours.
Awake windows during the day can now stretch to about 2 hours.
Daytime naps may start falling into 3–4 naps per day instead of constant catnaps.
If your baby isn’t doing long stretches yet, don’t worry—every baby is different, and longer sleep will come in time.
Your Body & Mind: A New Phase for You
At 3+ months postpartum:
You may feel more confident in your parenting instincts.
Emotionally, things might feel lighter, though you can still have “hard days.”
You might be thinking about more you-time—maybe a short outing alone or getting back to a small hobby.
Remember, it’s okay to need space sometimes—it doesn’t mean you love your baby any less.
Playtime Is More Fun!
Your little one is ready for more engaging play:
Peek-a-boo beginnings. Hide your face with your hands and then reveal it—they’ll be fascinated.
Gentle rattles or soft toys. They’ll start trying to grab and hold them.
Mirror magic. Babies love looking at faces—even their own.
Music and movement. A soft song and gentle rocking can bring out smiles and coos.
You’re not just entertaining them—you’re helping their brain and body grow.
A Gentle Reminder
Thirteen weeks ago, your baby was a sleepy newborn, barely able to focus their eyes. Now, they’re watching you, smiling at you, and maybe even giggling at your silly faces.
You’ve both grown so much. This stage is fleeting, so soak in those sweet baby snuggles and tiny milestones.
You’re doing an amazing job—really.
