For parents saving milk
Breast Milk Stash Planner
A little planning for the times you’re apart.
Choose from three free breast milk stash calculators to plan your return to work, set a freezer goal, or count storage bags. A freezer stash can also help with an evening out, a trip, or sharing a feed with a partner. There’s no single stash size every family needs.
What would you like help planning?
Returning to work
Do I already have enough saved? Compare milk on hand with the bottles and days you want ready in advance.
Building a freezer stash
How much extra milk would I need to freeze each day? Work backward from your goal, current stash, and available days.
Choosing storage bags
How many bags will I need?
One bag for each pumping session you freeze, minus the unused bags you already have. We’ll estimate the Cubtale packs of 100 you’ll need.
FROM PLANNING TO EVERYDAY TRACKING
Plan your stash here. Keep track with Cubtale.
Your plan is the starting point. Pair Cubtale’s QR-labeled milk bags with the Cubtale app to log milk as it is stored and used, see your available stash, and know which bag to reach for next.
Your partner and caregivers can follow along too. Less freezer counting, with everyone working from the same milk inventory.
Your milk stash planning questions, answered
Which tool should I start with?
Choose the Return-to-Work Milk Planner to compare saved milk and expected pumping with bottles for your days apart. Choose the Freezer Stash Goal Calculator if you already have an amount and timeline in mind. Use the Milk Storage Bag Calculator to count bags for the sessions you plan to freeze: one bag per session, plus another for any session over 6 oz.
Do I need a large freezer stash?
Start with your own plans rather than a freezer size or someone else’s goal. Think about when you’ll be apart, the bottles your baby usually takes, and whether milk pumped while apart will be available for later feeds. The tools use the amounts and plans you enter.
Do these calculators tell me how much to pump or feed?
No. They help you work out a plan from the amounts you enter. They do not assess your baby’s intake, your milk supply, or the right pumping routine for you. For help thinking through your day, explore our pumping schedule guide. Your lactation professional or care team can help with questions about your own feeding and pumping needs.
What if I’m worried about my supply?
If you’re worried about milk supply or your baby’s intake, start with a lactation professional or your baby’s healthcare provider. They can help you understand your situation and make a plan that fits your needs. These tools plan milk storage; they do not assess milk supply.
For background reading, explore our power pumping guide. A calculator result is not a recommendation to increase pumping.
What is the difference between planning and tracking?
The calculators estimate a future plan from your inputs. An inventory records what you actually store and use. Cubtale’s QR-labeled milk bags and the Cubtale app help you keep that ongoing record as your stash changes.
Can I change my plan later?
Yes. Revisit your inputs whenever your routine, available time, or stash changes. The calculator forms do not save your entries after you reload or leave the page.
Where can I find storage guidance?
