Using the Hospital Breast Pump, Milk Bottles and Labels
Before You Start

Wash your hands thoroughly before every pumping session.

Each mother receives a new pump set for hospital use.

Each pump set is good for 24 hours only.

Use a new container for every pumping session.
Containers Provided

Colostrum container: 35 ml disposable

Breast milk bottles: 80 ml or 150 ml disposable
Only use these disposable bottles and avoid containers with colored tops.
Using the One-Day Pump Set (Lactina/Symphony)

The one-day pump set comes ready to use and does not need cleaning before first use.

After each pumping session, clean the attachments.

The pump machine itself must be wiped with hospital cleaning wipes between patients.
Cleaning and Care After Each Use

Disassemble: Separate all parts. Remove the white valve membrane from the breast shield connector.

Rinse: Rinse breast shield, connector, and white valve membrane with clear water.

Wash: Hand-wash parts in warm, soapy water using drinking-quality water, then rinse well in clear water.

Dry: Use a clean towel or paper towel.

Store: Place dry, clean parts in a new zip-lock bag.
The tubing does not need cleaning after each use unless you see milk inside.
Caution

The one-day disposable pump set can be used for 24 hours only.

Do not steam sterilize or autoclave the disposable set.

A reusable breast pump set can also be used for 24 hours, but must be sent to CSSD (Central Sterile Services Department) for sterilization before a new set is issued.
