Week 29

Baby’s Getting Stronger Every Day

Week 29

Welcome to Week 29! Your baby is now about the size of a melon, measuring around 15.5 inches long and weighing roughly 3 pounds. With just 11 weeks to go, baby is maturing rapidly and preparing for life outside the womb.

What’s Happening in Your Body?

Baby’s muscles and lungs are getting stronger, and their brain is making millions of new connections every day. Their movements are more coordinated, and they’re practicing breathing, sucking, and blinking—all the skills they’ll need when they arrive.

At this stage, baby is also starting to regulate their own temperature, thanks to the layer of fat building up under their skin. You may notice more big, rolling movements as they have less room to flip around.

For you, your uterus is now pushing even higher into your ribcage, which can make eating, breathing, and sleeping more challenging.

Common Symptoms This Week

  • Frequent baby movements, including big stretches and rolls

  • Braxton Hicks contractions—still irregular and mild

  • Heartburn, indigestion, or feeling “full” quickly because baby’s taking up more space

  • Backaches, hip pain, or pelvic pressure

  • Swelling in feet, ankles, and hands

  • Varicose veins or hemorrhoids from extra pressure

  • Trouble sleeping and vivid dreams

  • More frequent bathroom trips—baby is pressing on your bladder!

You might also feel clumsier as your center of gravity shifts and your joints loosen from pregnancy hormones.

What You Can Do This Week

  • Keep doing daily kick counts—baby’s movements are an important sign of their well-being

  • Eat smaller, more frequent meals to ease heartburn and indigestion

  • Practice light stretching or prenatal yoga to help with aches and circulation

  • Sleep on your side with plenty of pillows for support

  • Wear comfortable, supportive shoes to help with balance and swelling

  • Discuss your birth plan with your provider, if you haven’t yet

This is also a great time to start setting up baby’s space—whether it’s a nursery, a corner of your room, or just a cozy bassinet. And if you want to remember how baby moves at this stage, Cubtale is perfect for logging those moments.

Real Talk

Week 29 can feel big. Baby’s movements are stronger and more obvious, your body feels heavier, and the reality of birth is creeping closer.

You might feel excited, impatient, and nervous all at once. You might also just feel tired. That’s okay—this is hard work.

Take things slow. Ask for help. And remember, you’re not just counting down the weeks—you’re getting closer to the moment you’ll finally meet your baby.
