Welcome to Week 35! Your baby is now about the size of a swiss chard, measuring around 18 inches long and weighing about 5.5 pounds. From here on, they’re mostly just adding fat and final touches before making their big debut.
What’s Happening in Your Body?
Baby’s kidneys and liver are fully developed, and their lungs are nearly ready for life outside the womb. Their brain is still growing rapidly, adding about a third of its final weight in these last few weeks.
Space is really tight now, so you’ll probably feel more nudges, rolls, and stretches, rather than big flips. You might even be able to tell which body part is pressing against you—hello, tiny feet or a little bottom!
For you, baby may start to drop lower into your pelvis (called “lightening”), which can ease breathing a bit but increase pelvic pressure.
Common Symptoms This Week
Less room for baby to move, but movements should still feel strong and consistent
Braxton Hicks contractions—possibly more frequent now
Pelvic pressure or discomfort, especially if baby has dropped
Back pain, hip pain, or sciatica
Swelling in feet, ankles, or hands
Heartburn or indigestion—baby’s still crowding your stomach
Frequent bathroom trips, even more now if baby is low
Trouble sleeping, thanks to discomfort and frequent waking
You might also notice colostrum leaking more—your body is getting ready for feeding.
What You Can Do This Week
Keep doing daily kick counts—baby’s routine matters
Review labor signs with your provider so you know what’s normal
Pack any last-minute things in your hospital bag
Have the car seat installed and checked—many hospitals require it
Finalize postpartum plans—who’s helping you in the first few weeks?
Keep moving gently—walks, stretches, or prenatal yoga can ease aches and help baby settle into position
It’s also a good time to discuss birth preferences with your provider, including pain management, who will be in the room, and what to expect if labor starts early.
And don’t forget to capture these final weeks—baby’s funny movement patterns, belly photos, or little notes on how you’re feeling—in Cubtale to remember this special time.
Real Talk
Week 35 can feel like the longest wait. You’re so close but not quite at the finish line. Your body feels heavy, sleep is hard, and you might be feeling really ready to meet your baby.
It’s also normal to feel a little nervous about labor or what life will be like after birth. You’re about to experience a huge change—emotionally and physically.
Take it slow. Rest. Breathe. You ’re almost there.
