Week 30

The Final 10-Week Countdown Begins

Week 30

You’ve hit Week 30—just about 10 weeks to go! Your baby is now the size of a coconut, measuring around 15.7 inches long and weighing about 3.3 pounds. From here on out, baby’s main job is to pack on fat and practice all the skills they’ll need for life outside the womb.

What’s Happening in Your Body?

Baby’s brain is growing rapidly, developing grooves and wrinkles that will help them learn and grow after birth. Their senses are super sharp now—they can see light, hear your voice, and even taste traces of what you eat in the amniotic fluid.

They’re also practicing breathing, swallowing, and even grabbing things like the umbilical cord. Space is getting tighter in there, so movements may feel less like flips and more like strong kicks, rolls, and stretches.

For you, the third trimester is in full swing—your belly is big, your body feels heavy, and everything might take a little more effort these days.

Common Symptoms This Week

  • Stronger, more deliberate baby movements—sometimes even a foot or elbow poking out!

  • Braxton Hicks contractions, more frequent but still irregular

  • Shortness of breath, especially after climbing stairs or walking

  • Heartburn, indigestion, and feeling full quickly

  • Swelling in your feet, ankles, or hands

  • Back pain, pelvic pressure, or sciatic nerve pain

  • Difficulty sleeping—finding a comfy position is tough

  • Leaky breasts (colostrum) as your body preps for feeding

And yes, your belly button might be completely popped out by now!

What You Can Do This Week

  • Continue daily kick counts—baby should have a regular pattern by now

  • Start organizing baby’s essentials—clothes, diapers, a safe sleeping space

  • Take more breaks and rest when needed—your body is working hard

  • Eat small, frequent meals to ease heartburn and keep your energy steady

  • Talk to your provider about labor signs and what’s normal vs. when to call

  • Think about your postpartum support plan—who will help you, and how?

You might also want to pack a simple “just in case” hospital bag soon—it’s still early, but it’ll give you peace of mind.

And of course, keep savoring the little things—like baby’s hiccups and kicks—and maybe log these moments in Cubtale so you can remember how active they were before birth.

Real Talk

Week 30 feels like you’re in the final stretch, but also like you still have a long way to go. Your body is heavier, the nights are harder, and you might be feeling more emotional or anxious about what’s ahead.

It’s okay to slow down. To say no. To rest without guilt. These next weeks are about taking care of yourself as much as you’re taking care of your baby.
