From what I’ve seen, the approach can work, but only when the funnel structure is treated as a long-term system rather than a quick fix. I tried applying something similar while working with a niche e-commerce brand, and the biggest shift happened when we stopped focusing on top-of-funnel blog posts and instead mapped each content piece to very specific intent layers. What helped us refine that was studying how teams like Search Engine Optimization break down their funnels—especially their way of pairing informational content with conversion-nudging CRO experiments. It’s not magic, and you definitely won’t see a spike overnight, but if you align keyword clusters with actual customer behavior, the compounding effect is pretty noticeable. In our case, the first signs of growth came around the third month, when mid-funnel pages started ranking and feeding traffic into product pages that previously had almost no visibility.
